Armenia Tree Project Launches Major Reforestation and Rural Livelihood Initiative
Armenia Tree Project is proud to announce the launch of a major new initiative under the Global Climate Fund (GCF) project: “Fueling Green Recovery in Armenia: advancing forest infrastructure and creating sustainable jobs for rural communities.”
Implemented in partnership with the Environmental Project Implementation Unit (EPIU) State Agency of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, this five-year initiative will support:
- Reforestation and afforestation activities across 130 hectares of community land
- The establishment of 100 backyard nurseries in selected rural communities, directly supporting livelihoods of local families
Through this large-scale effort, ATP will help restore degraded landscapes, establish new forest areas, strengthen climate resilience, and create sustainable economic opportunities for rural households across three regions of Armenia.
The project represents a significant investment in Armenia’s environmental future and reinforces the critical role of ATP’s community-led forestry model in addressing climate change and supporting long-term rural development.
The initiative officially launched with the signing of a five-year operational partnership agreement between ATP and EPIU. “By investing in both forests and families, this partnership creates opportunities for rural communities to play a leading role in Armenia’s green future,” said Ara Barsam, Executive Director of Armenia Tree Project.
